Colleges and Universities

More than 50,000 students study and live in the Cultural Mile's back yard known locally as the Education Corridor. Drawn by the remarkable artistic vibrancy of Chicago's cultural scene, these students bring their exuberant energy to the street with internships and volunteering.

Each of the seven colleges and universities along Michigan Avenue schedule performances, lectures, and mount exhibitions throughout the year.

 

Columbia College Chicago

With more than 120 academic programs Columbia College is the largest and most diverse private arts and media college in the nation with exceptional technological resources. Their eleven buildings include the Getz Theater.

 

Roosevelt University

Named after Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt and their legacy of democratic ideals and achievements, the University has an unwaivering commitment to social equality and justice. Its buildings include the Auditorium Theater and famed Symphony Center.

 

DePaul University

Steps away from some of Chicago's most beloved cultural institutions, DePaul's Cultural Mile campus offers students all the advantages of a university campus with the facilities and connections to the city's thriving business community.

 

Robert Morris College

Robert Morris College has found a vibrant and cosmopolitan base in its main campus location on the Cultural Mile in addition to its seven other Illinois locations. In addition to its Institute of Art & Design it has Culinary Arts, Health Studies, Computer, Business Administration and School of Management.

 

East West University

The University has won acclaim for its electroneurodiagnostic technology program which trains students to become multi-skilled professional allied health technologists. It boasts a large number of international students contributing to the diversity of the Cultural Mile.

 

Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies

The Spertus Institute's gleaming new building set in the Historic District Wall adds to Chicago's reputation as a leader in urban design. It is both a Museum and an Institute of Jewish Studies. Its logo symbolizes the Spertus commitment to learning - "let there be light".

 

School of the Art Institute of Chicago

With a campus based in the Art Institute of Chicago the SAIC has access to not only the world of art in the Museum but the vibrant community of working artists, designers, writers and thinkers that is Chicago.
