Millennium Park

If there's a single place in Chicago that captures youthful energy of this wonderful city, it's the new Millennium Park at the northernmost end of the Cultural Mile.

The 24.5 acre park — featuring the work of world-renowned architects, planners, artists and designers — has been described as iconoclastic, irreverent, bold and dynamic.  All these terms apply.

Among Millennium Park's prominent features are:
  • The Harris Theater offering dance, music, and stage productions;
  • the Frank Gehry-designed Jay Pritzker Pavilion , the most sophisticated outdoor concert venue of its kind in the United States;
  • the interactive Crown Fountain by Jaume Plensa;
  • the BP Bridge an iconic snake-like winding bridge that provides incomparable views of the Chicago skyline and Michigan Avenue;
  • the Boeing Galleries a tree lined plaza with exhibits of contemporary and modern art by living artists;
  • the contemporary Lurie Garden designed by the team of Kathryn Gustafson, Piet Oudolf and Robert Israel; and
  • Anish Kapoor's hugely popular Cloud Gate sculpture on the AT&T Plaza.

Since its opening in July 2004, Millennium Park has hosted millions of people with daily events from April to September making it one of the most popular destinations in Chicago. In winter it sparkles with its crowded ice rink and outdoor visual art exhibits.
